ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the National Assembly of Pakistan expressed "complete" trust in Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's leadership amidst ongoing political tensions over the election with the Supreme Court. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, tabled the resolution, which received 180 votes in favor, while Shahbaz was elected as prime minister in April of the previous year with 174 votes. The resolution confirmed that the National Assembly of Pakistan fully trusts Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif's leadership as . The state leader took the demonstration of approval after the gathering dismissed the cash bill postponed by the public authority for giving assets to the Political decision Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding polls in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was ordered by the Supreme Court. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan also won a vote of confidence earlier in March of 2021. The prime minister thanked coalition partners for their support and expressed the need to hold polls across the country simultaneously, but not under duress.
