Hungry student eats expensive banana
artwork on display in Seoul

At the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, a student studying art at Seoul National University ate a fully ripe banana that had been displayed as part of Maurizio Cattelan installation "Comedian" in the "WE" exhibition. The banana had been taped to the wall with conduit tape and was not accessible for procurement.
The student, identified as Noh Huyn-soo, posted a video of himself eating the banana on Instagram, explaining to the museum that he did it out of hunger and taping it back on the wall. Although the museum informed Cattelan of the incident, he did not react to it.
The artwork had been sold for $120,000 in 2019 and is changed every few days. In a similar incident in 2019, performance artist David Datuna ate the banana at the gallery during the Art Basel event in Miami.
Another video shared on Instagram shows a female passenger drawing a portrait of her car driver on a Post-it note and giving it to him as a thank-you gesture for picking her up when no other cars stopped.
